Any Chester Upland School District parents with information on IEP meetings are asked to contact the Law Center ASAP in preparation for a hearing on Wednesday, April 17th.
The Law Center recently filed a motion for enforcement requesting student IEP files be made accessible to our attorneys to ensure the services outlined in the Settlement Agreement are being fully implemented. Available data shows that only 9 students have been awarded compensatory education services for the lack of services last year and that compensatory education has been discussed in less than half of the IEP meetings this year.
The Court wants to know why. On April 9th, the Court announced that it would grant our motion in part and deny our motion in part. Read the motion here. The Court has determined that a hearing will be held on Wednesday, April 17th at 9:30 a.m. in Courtroom 3A of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District located at 601 Market Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. We have been asked to interview parents who have personal knowledge about IEP meetings and present testimony of these interviews during this hearing.
If you are a parent of a student with special needs in the Chester Upland School District and can provide information regarding the content or occurrence of IEP meetings, please contact the Law Center’s Chester-Upland hotline at 267-546-1305 or firstname.lastname@example.org
