Unequal Voting Access in Ohio

Yet another issue of voter suppression has arisen in Ohio, where each county is able to set different hours for early voting, creating unequal voting access for residents in different counties.

Both the ACLU of Ohio and Ohio Senate Democrats have sent letters to Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted urging him to issue a directive to require the same set of early voting hours across the state. Currently, the counties with extended early voting hours are in predominately Republican areas; Husted, a Republican who views himself as “a champion for doing things uniformly”, is still thinking about issuing such a directive.
