Law Center Welcomes Valerie Harrison and Alexandra Edsall to Board

At a recent meeting, the Law Center elected and welcomed two new board members: Valerie Harrison and Alexandra Edsall. Valerie and Lexa are outstanding additions to the organization’s governing body and both staff and board are energized to begin collaborating with them.

Valerie Harrison is the Vice President for Legal Affairs & General Counsel at Arcadia University. In her role, she provides counsel to numerous offices and departments, while also managing the university’s human resources and risk management processes. She has previously held positions as Associate University Counsel at Temple University, Senior Counsel at Archo Chemical Company, and attorney positions at Joseph E. Seagram & Sons, Inc., Morgan, Lewis & Bockius, and Schander, Harrison, Segal & Lewis.

Valerie holds a J.D. from Villanova and is currently completing her Ph.D. in African-American Studies at Temple University, where she is also an adjunct professor. She sits on the board of the Art Sanctuary and she volunteers with the Philadelphia Diversity Law Group.

Alexandra Edsall is currently completing a Masters of City Planning program at Penn Design. Ms. Edsall was a campaign adviser for John Kerry’s 2004 Presidential campaign and has tremendous experience in Washington including her work as a legal consultant for both Democracy 21 and Partnership for Public Service. While at Democracy 21 she served on the legal team that represented Senators McCain and Feingold in litigation defending the constitutionality of the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act.

Notably, she was also a senior adviser at the U.S. Treasury Department and a judicial clerk for Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. She holds a J.D. and B.A. from Harvard University.
